Masakiyo Murai

Biography
Mr. Murai Graduated from Hyogo High School in 1969. After
working in the Kobe Port for 8 years, he had been engaged in
the “chemical shoes” business until the 1995 Great
Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. In the wake of the Earthquake,
while he was engaged in relief activities as the leader of
one of such relevant groups, he started representing until
to date an NGO alliance in support of temporary housings for
the victims of the 1995 Earthquake. And, after the
Earthquake, he was engaged in relief activities for various
disaster victims in and out of the country; and abroad he
was in a coordinating function for 46 times. At present, Mr.
Murai is the Director and Secretary General of CODE
(Citizens towards Overseas Disaster Emergency), and a
VisitingProfessor of the Kobe-Gakuin University as from
2006.
